The Estepona Fair and Sports Park will have access controls for vehicles and pedestrians during the Fair and Major Festivals, which will be held until July 12. The plan includes traffic restrictions and an increase in cleaning with 25 workers per day.

Those attending the Estepona Fair and Sports Park during the Fair and Major Festivals will encounter access controls for authorized vehicles and specific devices to regulate the entry of people during peak hours. This measure, which will be in effect until July 12, aims to manage the flow of attendees during times of high public concentration, such as the inaugural fireworks display, the horse parade, or the concerts at the Municipal Tent.

Traffic restrictions and enhanced security

Temporary traffic restrictions will be applied at the entrances to the Fairground and on the surrounding roads, designed to facilitate mobility and ensure the safety of pedestrians and drivers during the busiest days. The Local Police, in coordination with the National Police Corps, Civil Protection, and Firefighters, will maintain a permanent service at the venue to manage the events and facilitate an orderly evacuation at the end of each.

The security plan is activated especially during crowded events, where a high density of the public is expected. Local residents and fairgoers have been informed of the restrictions, which include temporary street closures and the establishment of park-and-ride facilities on the outskirts of the venue.

Intensive cleaning: 25 workers and 10,000 kilos of waste per day

In terms of cleaning, each day will start at 7:00 AM with ten manual sweeping workers in the fairground, supported by a mechanical sweeper, a collection truck, and a washing truck, so that the area is prepared before the daily activities begin. At 4:00 PM, a water truck will spray the sidewalks and pavements next to the open tents and the Municipal Tent to mitigate the heat.

In the afternoon, five workers will be responsible for sweeping and washing the roads, with a pressure water vehicle dedicated to immediate cleaning after the horse parade, and at 6:00 PM there will be an extraordinary waste collection. A night team will complete the plan with continuous emptying of bins and the removal of bags.

The City Council has added twenty additional containers for urban solid waste, in light of the more than 10,000 kilograms generated each day of the fair. In total, an average of 25 workers will work daily to keep the venue and the urban centre in good condition throughout the week. Those strolling through the Fairground these days will notice that, despite the hustle and bustle, the streets remain cleaner than in previous years, something that both attendees and local residents will appreciate.

Post-fair: three days of comprehensive cleaning

Once the Fair concludes, starting from July 12, ten workers with a sweeper, washer, and collection truck will carry out a comprehensive cleaning of the venue for three days while the dismantling of the attractions progresses. This post-fair plan ensures that the park is in perfect condition for its usual sports and leisure use as soon as possible.

The Estepona Fair and Major Festivals are among the most anticipated events of the summer on the Costa del Sol, and with these measures, the City Council aims to make the celebration safe and sustainable. Attendees should keep in mind that, to access the venue by vehicle, they will need special authorization, available on the municipal website. And, of course, if they plan to enjoy the tents, it is better to leave the car at home and use public transport or the designated park-and-ride facilities.
