The Estepona City Council has put out to tender the expansion of its smart traffic control camera system, a network that will grow from the current 240 devices to over 400. The base budget for the tender amounts to €970,410.78 (including VAT).
The new devices, over 170, will be installed at 82 points in the city, mainly in the outskirts. The aim is to expand the coverage of the system, which was launched in 2023 and was a pioneer in the province due to the technology used, to improve traffic flow and enable immediate action in the event of traffic jams or accidents.
The Deputy Mayor for Development, Infrastructure and Tourism, Ana Velasco, explained that the system will provide a "qualitative and quantitative leap" by incorporating devices with greater capacity and features. The management and viewing of images will be carried out from the Control Centre of the Estepona Local Police Headquarters, which will also support other security forces.
Interested companies can submit their bids electronically, as required, through the Public Sector Contracting Platform until 8 October.
