The Benalmádena Town Hall has carried out painting, plumbing, electrical, and pruning work in public schools over the summer, with a significant investment in CEIP Poeta Salvador Rueda.
The Benalmádena Town Hall has taken advantage of the summer months to carry out improvement and maintenance work in the public schools of the municipality, ahead of the start of the 2026/2027 school year. The work benefits 4,482 students enrolled in public Infant and Primary schools.
The Councillor for Education, María Luisa Robles, stated that "we are talking about more than 4,400 boys and girls who spend their day-to-day lives in our public schools and for whom we have taken advantage of the summer to carry out numerous actions. Our goal is for them to find well-maintained, safe schools in the best possible condition when classes begin."
Among the tasks carried out are painting work, repair of plumbing elements and tiling, installation of floating flooring, improvement of electrical installations, pruning, and installation of new benches. Cleaning and washing work has also been carried out both in the schools and their surroundings.
One of the most notable actions has been the renovation of 380 LED lighting points, adapting them to current regulations. The work has involved the participation of the caretakers and maintenance staff of the schools, coordinated by various municipal departments.
From Occupational Risk Prevention, three contracts have been launched to enhance safety. The first, for fire protection, has included a €45,000 investment in CEIP Poeta Salvador Rueda to improve the detection and protection system, with actions on signage, fire extinguishers, and other elements.
The second contract ensures an automated external defibrillator (AED) in each educational centre. At CEIP El Tomillar, which already had one funded by the AMPA, a second device has been added, and the Town Hall will take on the maintenance of both.
The third contract focuses on legionella prevention and control, and includes cleaning of water tanks and quarterly analysis in the water networks of the centres, including taps and fountains.
Robles emphasized that "it is not just about making visible improvements in our schools, but also about addressing essential issues related to prevention and safety. These three contracts allow for the establishment of maintenance and periodic controls that provide greater guarantees to the entire educational community."
Additionally, the Operational Services area, in coordination with Mobility and the Local Police, is repainting and improving signage around 21 educational centres. Pedestrian crossings, vertical signs, road markings, and areas for parking and reduced mobility have been reviewed.
The work includes repainting deteriorated pedestrian crossings and road markings, as well as replacing signage where necessary, to improve the safety of students and families at school entrances.
