The team from IES Rodríguez Delgado has finished first regionally and third in Spain, and is now seeking sponsors to fund their trip to the world final in Singapore this autumn.
The young members of the GalmaxGT team from IES Rodríguez Delgado in Ronda have qualified for the world final of the Steam Racing competition, which will take place this autumn in Singapore. After finishing first regionally and third nationally, the team will represent Spain in the international competition, but they face an economic challenge: they need between 40,000 and 50,000 euros to cover travel and accommodation expenses.
The Ronda City Council, through the Tourism delegation and the company Turismo de Ronda, has shown its support for the initiative. The councillor for the area, Ángel Martínez, has highlighted that it is a source of pride to have such talented young people who are carrying the name of Ronda throughout Spain and now as ambassadors abroad. “It is an exciting project that deserves all our support,” he stated.
To raise the necessary funds, the team has launched several initiatives. They have opened a bank account to receive donations from businesses, institutions, entities, and individuals. Additionally, they have designed team t-shirts that are for sale, and they have organised a 7-a-side football tournament that will take place on July 31 at the El Fuerte sports facilities.

Steam Racing is an international competition of scale model cars, in which teams from schools around the world participate. The qualification of GalmaxGT represents a milestone for the educational community of Ronda and recognition of the work of these young students, who have combined technical knowledge and teamwork to design their prototype.
The City Council has encouraged businesses and individuals to join this successful project, which not only promotes local talent but also projects the image of Ronda internationally. The date of the 7-a-side football tournament and the details of the bank account have been disseminated through the official channels of the team.
The deadline to raise the funds is tight, as the final will take place in autumn, and the team needs to finalise the budget in advance to organise the trip. The young people are counting on the solidarity of the Ronda community to make their dream of competing in Singapore a reality.
