The municipal company closes 2025 with 1.6 million in revenue, compared to 410,000 euros in 2021, and increases its workforce from 17 to 37. The Tajo Gorge Path drives growth.
The municipal company Turismo de Ronda, S. A. has closed the 2025 financial year with a revenue of 1.6 million euros, compared to 410,000 euros in 2021, which means a fourfold increase in income compared to 2019. This was stated by the Councillor for Tourism of the Ronda City Council, Ángel Martínez, who is responsible for the company, during the management report coinciding with the presentation of the Puente del Turismo 2026 awards.
The evolution of the turnover has been upward since the pandemic: 410,000 euros in 2021, 774,000 in 2022, 909,000 in 2023, 1,052,000 in 2024, and 1,600,000 in 2025. The councillor summarised this period in three axes: "more activity, more employment, and new tourist offerings for Ronda."
"We have grown exponentially. We found ourselves with a deficit model, obsolete and underutilised"
The growth is also reflected in direct employment. The workforce of the municipal company has increased from 17 workers to 37, twenty more than at the beginning of the period. Martínez emphasised that the company is publicly owned: "This company is municipal and, therefore, belongs to all the people of Ronda."
Among the factors explaining the revenue jump, the councillor pointed to the incorporation in 2025 of the first phase of the Tajo Gorge Path. Additionally, according to his report, investments in the maintenance of monuments, beautification of streets with urban art, artistic lighting, and the organisation of concerts and free activities have contributed.
In tourism, Ronda reached two million visitors for the first time in 2025. Overnight stays increased by 17.2%, rising from 352,880 in 2024 to 412,870 in 2025. The municipal official linked this data to the local economic fabric: "Overnight stays have a direct effect on hotels, accommodations, restaurants, shops, and many other services directly or indirectly related to tourism."
The Puente del Turismo 2026 awards were given to Bodega Doña Felisa Viña Amaya, Hotel Montelirio, the bar La Taberna de Ronda, and the City Council of Benaoján for its Chacina Fair.
As the next project, Martínez mentioned the artistic lighting of the Puente Nuevo, which will be carried out with the Endesa Foundation, once the itinerary of the Tajo Gorge Path is completed.
