On July 25, the Lauro Golf course will host the first edition of the Golf Tournament Against Cancer, a charity event organized by the Town Hall and the AECC to raise funds against the disease.

The municipality of Alhaurín de la Torre is preparing to host the first edition of the Golf Tournament Against Cancer on July 25, a charitable initiative that aims to become an annual reference event for sports enthusiasts. The competition will take place at the Lauro Golf facilities, with a start time of 08:30 under the Better Ball Stableford format.

The official presentation of the tournament took place this Tuesday with the participation of the mayor of Alhaurín de la Torre, Joaquín Villanova; the councillor for Social Affairs, María del Carmen Molina; the councillor for Sports, Sergio Cortés; the provincial manager of the Spanish Association Against Cancer in Málaga, Carmen Litrán; the president of the Local Board of the AECC in Alhaurín de la Torre, Elena Gil; and the director of Lauro Golf, Jaime Ravina.

During the event, the institutional representatives emphasized the importance of combining sport, solidarity, and social commitment to support people with cancer and their families. The councillor for Social Affairs, María del Carmen Molina, highlighted that this initiative goes "far beyond sport," with a "solidarity" component that is "very significant for improving the quality of life of sick individuals and their families," thanks to the work carried out by the AECC and its volunteers.

For her part, the provincial manager of the AECC in Málaga, Carmen Litrán, expressed gratitude for the support received to make this first edition a reality. "I want to especially thank the Town Hall of Alhaurín de la Torre and its Government team for their support and drive to make this first Tournament Against Cancer a reality. Also, to Lauro Golf for opening its doors to us and betting on an initiative that we hope will grow year after year to become a consolidated event within the sporting and charitable calendar of our province," she stated.

Litrán also emphasized that participation in this tournament will have a direct impact on the work carried out by the Association. "Each registration contributes to our ability to continue offering free psychological care, social support, health guidance, and assistance to patients and families. Additionally, it helps us continue to promote cancer research, one of our top priorities to keep improving the survival and quality of life of patients," she explained.

The organization has announced that the tournament will feature prizes for the top six qualifying pairs, for the best Scratch pair, the best female pair, and the closest ball for the best Junior (under 18), as well as a grand raffle of gifts at the end of the competition. Among the sponsors and collaborators are Vithas Málaga, as the sponsor of the Junior category, as well as Sabor a Málaga, McArthurGlen Designer Outlet Málaga, Fundación Idiliq, Viajes Master, and Aceitunas Bravo, who will contribute gifts and prizes.

The director of Lauro Golf, Jaime Ravina, expressed the club's satisfaction in hosting this charitable event. The Town Hall has highlighted the collaboration between institutions and the social fabric to promote initiatives that benefit the entire community. The AECC reminds that the funds raised through such activities allow them to maintain their free services for patients and families, as well as continue supporting oncological research.

In the province of Málaga, the entity consistently contributes to funding research projects to advance in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatments against cancer. Last year alone, the amount exceeded 810,000 euros, and in the last five years, it has reached 3.1 million euros. The organization calls on golf enthusiasts to fill the last available spots and join a day that will combine sport, camaraderie, and solidarity for a cause that affects thousands of families.

Registrations can be made through Lauro Golf until July 23 at 15:00, or until the planned capacity for this first edition is reached. The organization encourages golfers of all levels to participate, as the pairs format allows enjoyment of the sport while collaborating with a charitable cause.
