The parish of San Antonio de Padua, in the Portada Alta neighbourhood, welcomed this Sunday the welcome mass of the Nazareno de la Salud, which begins a new chapter after leaving the Santo Ángel de la Guarda.

The parish of San Antonio de Padua, in the Portada Alta neighbourhood, is now the new home of the Nazareno de la Salud. The image, created by the Sevillian sculptor José María Leal, was restored to worship during the solemn welcome mass held at 1 PM, as reported by Diario Sur.

The Lord presided over the ceremony in his chapel, dressed in a cream-coloured tunic made by Patricia Calderón. The mass was officiated by the parish priest of San Antonio de Padua, Carmelo de las Heras, and featured a choir from the Casa de Álora. Prior to this, the musical group Fusionadas performed a concert of processional marches.

Among the attendees were representatives of the sponsors of the blessing of the Nazareno de la Salud, the Nursing College and the Sisters of Charity of the San Manuel College.

The celebration marked the conclusion of a process that began months ago with the change of location. The Lord of Health was privately transferred on the afternoon of July 2 from the Santo Ángel de la Guarda to San Antonio de Padua. Since then, he had been set apart from public veneration while maintenance and conservation work was carried out. This Sunday, he returned to receive worship, now installed in the temple that will host the life of the parish group.

The departure of the Santo Ángel de la Guarda was announced last February after "a period of dialogue, reflection, and discernment," as explained by the pro-brotherhood at that time. The change of location received the approval of the Diocese and the consent of the parish priests of both temples, Federico Cortés and Carmelo de las Heras.

The image had been receiving worship at the Santo Ángel since its blessing on October 28, 2023. During Lent 2025, it made its first and only processional outing to date, as the parish group announced in February of this year the suspension of its procession while considering the change of church.
