The Junta of Andalucía has announced the acceleration of the Ventilla Plan, a project aimed at strengthening the electrical network on the coast of Málaga. The Government delegate, Patricia Navarro, emphasized that this initiative seeks to meet the growing supply demands associated with economic, industrial, and residential development in the area.
Details of the Ventilla Plan
The Ventilla Plan, promoted by e-Distribución, a subsidiary of Endesa, has received a construction licence from the Mijas Town Hall to build a new electrical substation in Rincón del Hinojal. This project represents an investment of €17.1 million and is designed to elevate the network capacity from 220 to 66 kilovolts.
According to Navarro, the plan exemplifies the Andalusian Government's commitment to facilitating essential infrastructures for the economic growth of the province. The new substation will improve supply quality and provide new opportunities for the connection of services and economic activities, as well as strengthen the operational security and flexibility of the electrical network.
Progress in Processing
The Junta of Andalucía has included the Ventilla Plan within the Project Acceleration Unit, allowing for coordinated monitoring of initiatives considered strategic. This advancement facilitates the processing of the Declaration of Public Utility for the land where the substation will be located, a process that is currently underway favourably.
Endesa has highlighted the importance of this infrastructure, stating that it will improve the network's mesh, allowing for greater support for urban and economic growth in the western Costa del Sol.
Additionally, the delegate recalled the requests made to the Spanish Government for the reinforcement of the electrical network in Málaga, necessary to ensure the supply for new real estate and industrial developments. Currently, the energy deficit in the province has blocked the construction of 25,000 homes and many business projects.
