A forest fire declared in the area of the Hermitage of Rosario, at kilometre 5 of the A-7175 road, has forced emergency services to send an ES-Alert message and declare the preventive confinement of the urban area of Benahavís, its scattered homes to the north and west, and the La Coja urbanisation. The fire is located close to homes and just over a kilometre from the urban centre, according to Diario Sur.
The Infoca is participating in the firefighting efforts with aerial resources, alongside 60 forest firefighters deployed on the ground. The A-7175 road connects the A-7 motorway with Benahavís, making the affected area a regular route between the coast and the municipality.
"An ES-Alert message has been sent and preventive confinement has been declared for the urban area of the municipality as well as its scattered homes to the north and west and the La Coja urbanisation"
The alert was disseminated early in the afternoon of this Sunday, 13 September. Authorities are asking the confined population to remain indoors and follow the instructions of emergency services while the alert is in place.
