The Active Participation Centre (CPA) in Coín has reopened its doors following the completion of a renovation process, which involved an investment of over 300,000 euros from the Junta de Andalucía.
The territorial delegate of the Junta, Laura Valle, along with the mayor of Coín, Francisco Santos, visited the new facilities where workshops and activities will be offered to around 3,800 elderly residents of the municipality.
Details of the renovation
The renovation of the CPA amounted to a total of 327,427 euros, sourced from Next Generation funds, allocated both for the construction, which represented 247,691 euros, and for the new equipment of the centre, which cost 79,735 euros. Valle assured that these spaces were adapted to meet the current demands of the users.
“We can return this centre to its true owners, who are the nearly 3,800 users from Coín,” Valle stated, emphasising the importance of creating an environment that fosters social interaction and helps combat unwanted loneliness among the elderly.
Continuity of activities
During the construction works, the Junta de Andalucía and the Ayuntamiento de Coín maintained support for users through municipal spaces provided to continue with the scheduled activities. Valle thanked the users for their patience during this period of construction.
The delegate also mentioned that these renovations are part of other similar interventions in centres in Antequera, Marbella, and El Perchel, where a total of 1.1 million euros has been invested to improve services for elderly people in the province.
The CPA in Coín now features modern and suitable facilities that promote active ageing, while ensuring the well-being and health of its users.
Finally, it was highlighted that the workshop programming at the CPA will resume during the first week of October, offering enriching activities for the elderly community of Coín.
