Málaga Local Police have arrested two members of an itinerant criminal group, alleged specialists in thefts and scams. The arrests took place on August 6 on Mauricio Moro Pareto Street, as part of preventive surveillance measures implemented in the city.

The officers, who were in plain clothes, detected a rental vehicle that raised their suspicions. After observing evasive behaviour from the driver, they proceeded to intercept it. Upon checking the documentation, the driver admitted to not having a driving licence.

Seizure of Objects and Money

During the inspection of the vehicle, several items of dubious origin were found, prompting the officers to conduct a more thorough search. A total of 6,170 euros in cash and a significant variety of belongings were seized, including nine mobile phones and jewellery, among other items.

The officers also found a handbag belonging to an 89-year-old woman, who reported that it had been stolen in a restaurant while she was eating. Inside the handbag, 1,500 euros in cash and bank cards were found, which the criminals had already used before the victim could cancel them.

Investigations and Arrests

Subsequent investigations revealed that the arrested woman was the perpetrator of the theft in the restaurant, accompanied by another man, not the driver. Furthermore, it was confirmed that one of the seized mobile phones had been stolen the day before in Granada, reflecting the itinerant activity of the group. Both detainees have been placed at the disposal of the judicial authorities.
