The Junta de Andalucía has recently awarded the works for the installation of a bioclimatisation and photovoltaic energy system at IES Valle del Genal, located in Algatocín, Málaga. This initiative is part of the Bioclimatisation Plan and involves an investment of €387,248.

The project, managed by the Andalusian Public Agency for Education (APAE), will be executed by the UTE Hijos de Manuel Molina López and Revestimentos Ruiz. It consists of the installation of adiabatic cooling systems, ideal for conditioning educational centres using bioclimatic techniques.

Objectives of the Bioclimatisation Plan

The implementation of this system will be complemented by the installation of photovoltaic solar panels with the aim of generating electrical energy. These efforts seek to meet the climatization needs of the centres, as well as promote energy savings, sustainability, and efficiency.

IES Valle del Genal is part of a group of six educational centres in the province of Málaga that are in the second phase of the Bioclimatisation Plan. Other included centres are IES Camilo José Cela in Campillos, IES José Saramago in Humilladero, IES La Maroma in Benamocarra, IES Fuente Luna in Pizarra, and Valle del Guadiaro school, located in Jimera de Líbar.

Investment and Scope of the Project

The average investment planned for each centre in this phase amounts to around €425,000, which totals an estimated €2,550,000 for the province. This effort is mainly directed towards centres located in areas of climatic severity level 3, which are added to another 30 centres that were part of the first phase, executed in areas of severity 4 at a total cost of €9.3 million.

In total, the Education Department has invested over €21.3 million to improve thermal conditions and bioclimatisation in educational centres in Málaga. This effort is carried out through the Bioclimatisation and Thermal Comfort Plans, benefiting 546 centres in 86 municipalities with an investment of €9,349,684. This plan allows management teams to adapt interventions to the specific needs of each centre, providing sustainable and rapid solutions based on the climatic diversity in the autonomous community.
