The Alhaurín el Grande Town Hall has published a decree with the rules for the processions on August 15. It includes schedules for placing chairs, restrictions on fireworks, and fines for non-compliance.
The Alhaurín el Grande Town Hall has made public a mayoral decree with the provisions that will govern the celebrations of the Day of the Virgin, which will be commemorated next Saturday, August 15. The mayor, Anthony Bermúdez, has called for civic participation to ensure that the festivity takes place safely, cleanly, and respectfully.
One of the main new features is that residents will be able to place chairs on public roads starting at 14:00 on Saturday to watch the processional events of Our Lady of Grace. Vehicles parked along the processional route and in the chair placement areas must be removed before that time. After the procession passes, chairs and furniture must be removed immediately so that municipal services can operate and pedestrian traffic is not obstructed.
The Local Police may remove items set up outside the permitted hours and impose the penalties provided for in Article 140 of the Municipal Ordinance on public road cleanliness and urban landscape. The decree reminds that non-compliance with any of the rules may result in financial fines.
Regarding cleanliness, attendees are asked to use the fixed and provisional bins that will be installed around the celebrations. It is also recommended to reduce waste by optimizing the use of containers and wrappers, and to dispose of rubbish in the bins during the established hours, from 21:00 to 00:00. It is prohibited to leave furniture and household items in the streets during these days, as well as to place construction containers on the streets of the processional route.
Concerning noise, the Town Hall calls for the reasonable and reduced use of fireworks and firecrackers to protect the most vulnerable individuals. Their use will only be authorized during the most important events: the processional departure at 20:30 and the fireworks upon the return of Our Lady of Grace to the Parish. Additionally, respectful behaviour towards attendees is requested, especially towards the elderly, children, and people with reduced mobility.
The decree also reminds that areas where anti-wax products are applied must be respected for safety reasons and to facilitate cleaning. These measures aim to ensure that the celebrations proceed without incidents and that all residents and visitors can enjoy the festivity in an orderly environment.
