The Plenary of the Rincón de la Victoria Town Council unanimously approves that the Municipal Public Library of Benagalbón be named after Natividad Díaz Paniagua. The proposal, driven by the Friends of the Library Association, recognises her educational, cultural, and social work.
The Plenary of the Rincón de la Victoria Town Council has unanimously approved the Mayor's proposal for the Municipal Public Library of Benagalbón to be renamed the Municipal Public Library Natividad Díaz Paniagua. This measure acknowledges the educational, cultural, and social trajectory of this local resident.
The initiative was promoted by the Friends of the Benagalbón Library Association and has received support from various groups and associations in the municipality, including the Peña de Verdiales El Revezo, the Cultural Week Association, and the Benagalbón Sports Club.
The mayor of Rincón de la Victoria, Francisco Salado, has highlighted the figure of Natividad Díaz Paniagua, affectionately known as Nati, whom he described as “an exemplary neighbour, both for her human qualities and for being a role model.”
“Her involvement has been key not only in the cultural sphere but also in the social one, putting her resources and her heritage at the disposal of those who are struggling, always discreetly and anonymously.”
The mayor also valued her discreet, humble, and supportive character, as well as her ability to engage in dialogue and generate consensus in the community life of Benagalbón. “It is people like Nati who make a municipality, a village, and a society,” he added.
“She is a person with a critical but deeply constructive outlook; elegant in her manner and always concerned about what is lacking in Benagalbón. In a time of great polarization like the present, we need many ‘Natis’ in our society.”
Natividad Díaz Paniagua has had a distinguished career as a Primary Education teacher throughout her life, contributing to the education of several generations of students not only through knowledge but also through the transmission of values.
Her commitment to Benagalbón has also been reflected in numerous cultural and social projects and initiatives. She was one of the promoters of the Cultural Week, which has been celebrated since 1994, as well as the Reading Club. Additionally, she is a founding member and patron of the Benagalbón Library, to which she contributed by donating part of the children's and youth collection that formed part of its beginnings.
Through these initiatives, Natividad Díaz Paniagua has maintained a firm commitment to promoting reading, education, and civic participation for decades, significantly contributing to the cultural and community life of Benagalbón.
The mayor has thanked the presence and support of the community representatives and members of the cultural associations and groups of Benagalbón who have backed this initiative and helped make this recognition possible.
A commemorative plaque with the name of Natividad Díaz Paniagua will soon be placed and unveiled on the façade of the Municipal Library of Benagalbón.
