The San Francisco district of Ronda will celebrate its Real Feria from October 2 to 4 at Ruedo Alameda, in honour of the Franciscan Jubilee Year marking the 800th anniversary of the death of Saint Francis of Assisi.
The Real Feria of the San Francisco district of Ronda now has its poster and programme. The mayor, Mari Paz Fernández, presented the design on Wednesday, created by the official chronicler of the city, Faustino Peralta, in an event attended by the councillor for Festivals, Rebeca Muñoz; the president of the Neighbourhood Association, Juanma Ayala; and the senior brother of the Royal Brotherhood of the Holy Burial, Antonio López.
The event will take place from October 2 to 4 at Ruedo Alameda, as the usual space is undergoing a complete renovation. The organisation is managed by the Neighbourhood Association and the Brotherhood of the Holy Burial, with the collaboration of the Town Hall.
The mayor highlighted that this year the fair coincides with the Franciscan Jubilee Year, due to the 800th anniversary of the death of Saint Francis of Assisi. “I encourage everyone to enjoy this Real Feria, with activities for all audiences. It is always nice to enjoy a few days of festivities and community,” declared Fernández.
The programme kicks off this Sunday at 11:00 hours with various tournaments. On Friday, October 2, the lighting will be inaugurated and the Caseta El Atrio will open, the Queen and Mister 2026 will be named, and the Virtual Orchestra will perform.
On Saturday, October 3, starting at 15:00 hours, the traditional Day of Coexistence will take place with a popular paella and performances by the Los Leones Band and the Malahora Group. At 23:30, trophies for the activities of the Neighbourhood Association will be awarded, and at 00:00 there will be a Tribute to the Distinguished Neighbour, again featuring the Virtual Orchestra.
On Sunday, October 4, the feast day of Saint Francis of Assisi, at 14:30 there will be a lunch for seniors with a performance by Guateque Entreamigos. At 18:30, there will be a mass at the Church of the Holy Spirit, and afterwards, the image of the Patron will parade through the streets of the neighbourhood.
