The Diputación of Málaga will conclude the rehabilitation of the MA-3107, which connects Benamargosa and Riogordo, in early October. The section, closed for works, will be ready after an investment of €1.2 million.
The road MA-3107, which connects Benamargosa with Riogordo and provides access to Comares, will reopen in early October following the final phase of its rehabilitation. The works, carried out by the company Federico García SL on behalf of the Diputación of Málaga, focus on the three most deteriorated kilometres of the road, where water infiltration had caused deformations and subsidence, as reported by Diario Sur.
The intervention takes place between the kilometre points 10+370 and 13+740. In these areas, the pavement is being completely removed and excavated up to 1.5 metres deep to sanitise the ground. Afterwards, the surface will be reconstructed with a layer of sub-base and two layers of asphalt, as well as the installation of concrete ditches, new drainage systems, and reinforcement riprap.
The section remains closed to traffic, and it is expected that restrictions will last until mid-September. After that, there will be asphalt laying and signage, with a budget of €1.2 million.
The president of the Diputación, Francisco Salado, visited the works on Tuesday alongside the mayors of Comares and Riogordo, José Miguel Ruiz and Antonio Alés. Salado highlighted the importance of this network for the small municipalities in the interior, where these roads are the main daily connection.
With this phase, the total investment in the MA-3107 exceeds €2 million. Previously, €500,000 had been allocated to renew 6.5 kilometres of surface and €340,000 to correct deficiencies in another section. The Diputación plans to allocate around €20 million this year to the provincial road network, including a horizontal signage plan for 99 roads with €2.1 million in bidding.
