Antequera commemorates World Tourism Day with a programme of cultural visits, routes through El Torcal, and gastronomic tastings from 24th to 27th September. Most activities are free and require prior reservation.
The Deputy Mayor for Tourism, Commerce and World Heritage, Ana Cebrián, has presented the programme for World Tourism Day, which is celebrated on Sunday 27th September. The activities will take place from Thursday 24th to Sunday 27th and include visits to monumental heritage, hiking routes through El Torcal, immersive experiences, and gastronomic proposals.
This year's theme is "Digital Agenda and Artificial Intelligence to Redesign Tourism", focusing on the role of new technologies in the sector. Antequera will offer residents and visitors various opportunities to discover its monumental, natural, and gastronomic heritage.
The programme kicks off on Thursday 24th September with "Magical Evenings at the City Museum", at 20:00 hours and lasting one and a half hours. The fee is 12 euros for adults and 8 euros for seniors over 65 and children aged 4 to 12. With the Amig@ Card from Antequera's Media Cities, the prices drop to 10 and 6 euros. On Saturday 26th September, El Torcal will host three hiking proposals. "El Torcal with Family" will have departures at 10:00 and 12:00 hours, lasting two hours with a fee of 8.50 euros, free for children under three years. "The Ammonites in El Torcal" will start at 10:30 hours, last three hours, and has a low-medium difficulty. The price is 13.50 euros for adults and 11 euros for children aged 6 to 12 years. This route is not suitable for children under six or for people with reduced mobility.
In the afternoon, at 15:30 hours, "Torcal Express" will take place, lasting one and a half hours and costing 8.50 euros. Reservations for the three routes can be managed at reservas@torcaldeantequera.com and by calling 952 243 324.
Saturday also includes guided visits to the Church of San Juan de Dios, at 12:00 and 18:00 hours, lasting thirty minutes. Information and reservations are available at the Municipal Tourism Office, phone 952 702 505.
Gastronomy will take centre stage at the Paseo Real with the tasting of the World's Largest Bienmesabe, starting from 17:30 hours. There will be a bar service and musical ambience from 12:00 to 02:00 hours. A portion of bienmesabe with a drink costs 4 euros, with advance sales at 3 euros at Confitería Piobiem.
On Sunday 27th September, World Tourism Day, a guided visit with a host to the Royal Collegiate Church of Santa María and the Alcazaba will take place at 11:00 hours, with a capacity of 50 people. Reservations can be made by calling 951 700 737 and 689 006 502.
Also at 11:00 hours, there will be a visit to the exhibition of the Archaeological Complex of the Dolmens and immersive experiences, lasting two hours with a capacity of 30 visitors. Information and reservations are available through the ARES platform of the Junta de Andalucía.
Sunday will also feature a new guided visit to the Church of San Juan de Dios, at 12:00 hours and lasting thirty minutes. Reservations can be made at the Municipal Tourism Office, phone 952 702 505.
All activities are free except those with indicated fees. It is recommended to manage reservations in advance through the channels established for each proposal.
