The PSOE in Torremolinos is urging the government team to rectify the deficiencies detected in the newly opened La Nogalera square, which was reopened at the end of July. The local government acknowledges the faults and assures that the contractor is already working on them.

The PSOE in Torremolinos has demanded that the government team repair as soon as possible the deficiencies detected in La Nogalera square, a space reopened at the end of July that has become one of the most frequented spots in the municipality. The socialist spokesperson, Nieves Rosales, has requested that the furniture be reviewed and that safety conditions in the area be guaranteed, according to Diario Sur.

The spokesperson for the local government, Luis Rodríguez del Pozo, has acknowledged the problems that have arisen after the works and has assured that the Operational Services department has already prepared an inventory of everything that the project's contractor must rectify. The aim, he said, is for both the renovation work and the installed systems and mechanisms to be in perfect condition.

From the City Council, they specify that the technical management has prepared the final works certificate with a list of "repairs, finishing touches and rectifications, fully assumed by the contracting company." They claim that there are "around twenty minor incidents, such as the falling of a section of LED strip, more than 50% of which have already been resolved."

The contractor is already working to address these notifications, regardless of the warranty period of the contract, which is six years. "This is, therefore, the usual procedure in any public work and a process perfectly regulated by current regulations, including the Building Regulation Law," insist the government team, adding that "the pending actions will soon be resolved" and that Operational Services will be responsible for maintenance to ensure that the square "is always in perfect condition."

The renovation of La Nogalera square was inaugurated on July 23 with an extraordinary programme. The works began in October 2024 and were not straightforward: they included budget modifications and an extension of the execution period, initially set at ten months. The final cost increased by 600,000 euros, reaching 3.6 million, 20% more than budgeted.
