Nearly 300 people attended the IV Gastronomic Gala of Puerto Banús in Marbella this Saturday, with chef Mario Sandoval as the host.
The IV Gastronomic Gala of Puerto Banús gathered nearly 300 guests this past Saturday at the Muelle de Honor of the Marbella port. The event, which featured chef Mario Sandoval (two Michelin stars), was organised with the support of the Marbella City Council and the Junta de Andalucía.
A menu that travels through the history of Puerto Banús
The chef designed a menu that explored the history and identity of the port area through Andalusian products. The proposal included a reinterpretation of the classic prawn cocktail with tropical fruits, an Andalusian sea bass between ceviche and escabeche, and a beef dish with Ras el Hanout spices, alluding to the Arab influence. The final touch was a pistachio cake.
The mayor of Marbella, Ángeles Muñoz, present at the gala, highlighted that the event "reaffirms the destination's commitment to promoting experiences linked to quality tourism." According to the City Council, the night served to project Marbella's image as an international benchmark.
Puerto Banús, a showcase for luxury gastronomy
Muñoz emphasised that Puerto Banús is "one of the major international references of the city" and that "Marbella is privileged to have a unique location that projects our image worldwide." The mayor recalled that the municipality has evolved towards a model based on excellence, with a renowned hotel industry, sports and cultural programming, and a gastronomic offer that boasts five Michelin stars across various restaurants.
"In Marbella, you can eat very well in any corner, and that is an attraction that visitors increasingly appreciate," the mayor stated.
The gala featured collaboration from chef Mario Sandoval, who expressed gratitude for the opportunity to combine his talent with the prestige of Puerto Banús. Muñoz declared that "the talent and creativity of Mario Sandoval joining the prestige of Puerto Banús and the name of our city makes this night an unforgettable experience."
Quality tourism and local flavour
The event is part of the municipal strategy to attract high-spending tourists seeking unique experiences. For the residents of Marbella, this gala serves as a showcase for the local culinary offer and boosts the municipality's economy. The next edition is already shaping up to be an unmissable date in the gastronomic calendar of the Costa del Sol.
