The Marbella Town Hall is executing the expansion of Los Naranjos park in Nueva Andalucía, which will gain over 700 square metres and exceed 1,900. The works include mini goals, baskets, and artificial grass.
Los Naranjos park in Nueva Andalucía will have more than 700 square metres added when the works carried out by the Marbella Town Hall are completed. The total area will increase from around 1,200 square metres to over 1,900 square metres, according to the local council.
The councillor for the area, Diego López, explained that the intervention "aims to provide this location with a larger and better-equipped public space for leisure and outdoor recreation." The project, details of which are reported by Diario Sur, will include two mini goals and two mini basketball hoops, as well as games and marked circuits on the pavement.
"The intervention will create a more dynamic recreational area suited to users of different ages," noted the municipal government's Works officer.
Work is currently progressing with the construction of the new perimeter pavement and the installation of fencing to replace the existing enclosure. It is expected that the placement of artificial grass, one of the main elements of the new recreational area, will begin next Monday.
The project also includes the replacement of 200 square metres of rubber pavement in the play areas, the renewal of bins and benches, and the restoration of tree pits. The work is completed with clearing and cleaning tasks in the surrounding area.
This is the second project of this type that the Marbella Town Hall is launching this month. The previous one is taking place at the intersection of Parra and Doña Francisca Carrillo streets in Xarblanca, where a sports and leisure park of 1,100 square metres is being constructed.
This facility, expected to be completed around early December, will include a petanque court, biosaludable exercise machines, spaces for table tennis, and activities such as chess and parchís. It will also feature a 210 square metre green area, a parking lot with 13 battery spaces, an expansion of the urban bus stop, and the relocation of the ecological island, along with benches, bins, and nine four-metre-high LED streetlights.
