Maicandil, San Luis de Sabinillas, and Pablo Picasso schools open the 2026/27 academic year with 1,800 students and a municipal investment of €150,000 in improvements made over the summer.
A total of 1,800 students have started the 2026/27 school year this Friday in the three public schools of Manilva: Maicandil, San Luis de Sabinillas, and Pablo Picasso. The students have found the facilities in good condition following the improvement works carried out throughout the summer.
The Manilva Town Hall, through the departments of Education and Infrastructure and Works, has allocated €150,000 to improve the three educational centres and the three nursery schools in the municipality. This is the highest investment made to date in this type of work, according to municipal sources.
The mayor, Mario Jiménez, and the councillor for Education, Laura Salazar, have supervised the facilities during the summer and also on the morning of this Friday to ensure that everything was ready to welcome the educational community. The councillor for Infrastructure, Marcos Ruiz, has made similar inspection visits during the summer period.
The entrance to the schools has been organised in a staggered and controlled manner by the Local Police, adapting to the different cycles of early childhood and primary education to facilitate the incorporation on this first school day.
The municipal authorities have thanked the work of the departments involved in the tasks, including Parks and Gardens and Cleaning, and wished the entire educational community a good school year.
