The City Council and residents agree on the start of the comprehensive renovation of the street, with an investment exceeding one million euros and an execution period of 138 days.
The City Council of Fuengirola and the residents of Sevilla Street have agreed that the comprehensive renovation works of this street will begin on September 7. The date was agreed upon yesterday in a meeting between the mayor, Ana Mula, and the residents, who were able to learn the details of the project and share their proposals.
The intervention covers more than 300 linear meters and includes the complete renewal of the water supply pipelines serving homes and businesses, as well as improvements to the surface space. The project aims, as much as possible, to maintain the existing parking spaces, which is one of the main demands of the residents.
“Before starting any work, we always meet with the residents to personally explain what we are going to do and how, listen to their contributions, and, above all, take their needs into account during the development of the work. They are the ones who live daily on this street, and therefore, their opinion is fundamental to us,” said the mayor.
The works involve an investment of over one million euros, financed through a grant from the Provincial Council of Málaga, and will have an execution period of 138 days. With this schedule, completion is expected by early 2027.
This action is part of the plan to renew streets and public spaces that the City Council is promoting in various neighborhoods of the city. So far in this term, more than 700,000 euros have been allocated to three other interventions in the area: the renovation of San José Square, the renewal of the space between San Salvador, Triana, and Sevilla streets, and the new supply network in Estepona, San Vicente, Goya, Doctor Ochoa, and Núñez de Balboa streets.
“Sevilla Street needed a deep intervention, and the residents had communicated this need to us. Now we are taking a further step: we have the project prepared and awarded, we have been able to explain it directly to the residents, and we have agreed with them that the works will begin on September 7,” Mula indicated.
During the execution, residents will need to adapt to the traffic cuts and diversions that will be announced. The City Council has assured that it will try to minimize inconveniences and maintain the commercial activity of the area as much as possible.
“We continue to advance so that all neighborhoods in Fuengirola have modern, accessible streets and infrastructures adapted to current needs,” concluded the mayor.
