The Nerja district of Maro will celebrate its traditional Marvellous Fair from September 4 to 8 with a budget of €113,350. The programme includes concerts, a procession, and family activities.
The district of Maro, belonging to Nerja, is finalising preparations for its traditional Marvellous Fair, which will take place from September 4 to 8 in honour of its patroness, the Virgin of Las Maravillas. The deputy mayor, Ana María Muñoz; the councillor for Major Festivities, Elena Gálvez; the local mayor, Nuchi Moreno, and representatives of the Festivities Board have presented the programme for this edition.
The municipal budget for the fair amounts to €113,350. The events will kick off on September 4 with the opening speech by the Niñas de Maro. Music will be one of the main focuses, featuring a tribute to Manuel Carrasco, the Grupo Brumas, and the star performance by José Manuel Soto, along with DJ Manuel Moreno, the Orquesta Vértigo, and the Grupo Al Alba.
One of the most emotional moments will be the procession of the Virgin of Las Maravillas on September 8, the central day of the festivities. The programme also revives children's activities, the traditional race, the election of the Queen and her Maids, and performances by local dance academies.
The entertainment will be provided by Brass Town, while the Cultural Club of Equestrianism and Driving San Isidro will keep the equestrian tradition alive with various activities and a tent with music. The local mayor, Nuchi Moreno, has invited residents of Maro and Nerja to participate and congratulated the Festivities Board for the organisation.

The councillor for Major Festivities, Elena Gálvez, highlighted the traditional and family-oriented nature of the celebration.
“This fair is tradition, family, gathering, and, above all, the affection of Maro towards its patroness. We hope everyone enjoys these days and accompanies the Virgin of Las Maravillas with the joy and respect she deserves.”
The fair is presented as an event for family enjoyment and to keep alive the customs that are part of the identity of Maro. The events will take place in the district over five days, with activities for all audiences.
