The Palace of Peace will host the dance show 'Dancing to Remember' on September 19 to benefit AFA Fuengirola-Mijas. The proceeds will be used to maintain its three care centres.
Fuengirola will commemorate World Alzheimer’s Day with a cultural and charitable event. The Palace of Peace will host the dance show 'Dancing to Remember' next Saturday, September 19 at 19:00 hours, with all proceeds going directly to the Association of Relatives of Alzheimer’s Patients (AFA) Fuengirola-Mijas.
The Councillor for Culture, Rodrigo Romero, presented the initiative today alongside the president of AFA Fuengirola-Mijas, Paqui Lebrón, and representatives from the dance academies Chassé and Baila Pasión, Loli Romero and Trini Cabello. The councillor encouraged residents to participate in this proposal, which allows them to enjoy a quality show while supporting the work AFA does in the city.
“On September 19, we have an appointment at the Palace of Peace with a double purpose: to have fun and enjoy a fantastic show, and on the other hand, to lend a hand to those who need it most,” Romero stated.
The show will feature performances from the academies Baila Pasión and Chassé, as well as three champion couples of Spanish Latin dance, in a programme designed for all audiences. From Chassé, Loli Romero has indicated that it will be a “very colourful” show, with choreographies and songs “that will take us back to our childhood and remind us of our youth”.
The president of AFA, Paqui Lebrón, expressed gratitude to the City Council and the academies for their involvement. The proceeds will help maintain the three centres run by the association and serve as a tribute to the individuals cared for and their families. Trini Cabello from Baila Pasión encouraged the people of Fuengirola to attend: “We are going to have fun and we are going to support a good cause.”
Tickets cost 8 euros and can be purchased at the Adolfo Suárez Centre of AFA, on Agustina de Aragón street; at the AFA shop on Palangreros street; at the Suel Day Centre, on Menorca street; and at the dance academies Chassé and Baila Pasión.
AFA Fuengirola-Mijas works to improve the quality of life for individuals affected by Alzheimer’s and their families in both municipalities. The association, which started with psycho-stimulation therapies in a local school classroom, now has three dedicated centres with specialised care.
