The Fuengirola City Council allocates €831,942 to maintenance and improvement works in public educational centres, with notable projects such as the new roof at CEIP Valdelecrín and the electrical renovation of CEIP Sohail.
The Fuengirola City Council has taken advantage of the summer period to execute an ambitious improvement plan in the city's public schools, with a total investment of €831,942.24. The mayor, Ana Mula, accompanied by the Councillor for Education, Carmen Díaz, visited CEIP Sohail on Thursday, one of the centres where renovation work has already been completed.
The largest project is the installation of a new roof at CEIP Valdelecrín, with a budget of €443,362.15. The works have already been awarded, and preparatory tasks for its installation are underway. This is followed by the comprehensive renovation of the electrical installation at CEIP Sohail, which has involved an investment of €173,119.28.
Additionally, the sports court at CEIP El Tejar has been renovated for €42,245.30, and the doors at CEIP Los Boliches have been replaced at a cost of €19,082. A contract has also been awarded for €5,330 to improve the entry and exit conditions of the educational facilities.
“The maintenance of public schools is a matter we take very seriously. Our caretakers work daily to detect and resolve issues, and where they cannot reach, the City Council is there to implement the necessary actions,” explained the mayor during the visit.
Comprehensive maintenance in all centres
Alongside these larger works, the City Council has carried out maintenance tasks in all public schools in Fuengirola. Brush clearing and tree pruning, as well as maintenance of gardens and ornamental elements, have been conducted to keep the outdoor spaces in optimal condition.
Sanitary treatment and control measures have also been implemented to prevent legionella in the water tanks and terminal points of sanitary water, along with pest control and rodent extermination tasks. Furthermore, the condition of fire extinguishers and fire protection systems has been reviewed to ensure their proper functioning in case of any eventuality.
“In short, we will not stop working throughout the summer to ensure our schools present the best possible appearance and, above all, so that our children can start the new school year and develop their learning in the best conditions. Investing in our educational centres is investing in the present and future of Fuengirola,” concluded Ana Mula.
These actions are in addition to the construction of the new CEIP Picasso, whose works began at the end of September last year and have an execution period of 18 months. With all this, the educational centres in Fuengirola will face the 2026/2027 school year with renovated and ready facilities.
