Around 500 tennis players under 18 from 51 countries have registered for the XIII ITF Junior Costa del Sol Tournament, which will take place in Estepona from September 12 to 19. Only the top 120 will compete in the final phase.

The Bel-Air Tennis and Padel Club in Estepona will host the XIII ITF Junior Costa del Sol Tournament next week, bringing together young tennis talents from around the world. The competition, presented this Wednesday, has around 500 participants from 51 countries, although only the top 120, in both men's and women's categories, will compete in the final phase.

The preliminary phase will be held on September 12 and 13, and the final phase from September 14 to 19. The presentation featured Estepona's Sports Councillor, Luis Gil; the Sports Deputy of the Málaga Provincial Council, Juan Rosas Gallardo; the Vice President of the Andalusian Tennis Federation, Pedro Domínguez, and the event organiser, Raúl Rivet.

Luis Gil highlighted the success of participation and noted that the tournament has become a benchmark that attracts numerous fans, who choose Estepona for its climate, facilities, and organisation. Meanwhile, Juan Rosas explained that it is a unique tournament in Andalusia and is part of a global circuit with 2,000 tournaments across five continents.

Pedro Domínguez emphasised the quality of the tournament, established in the junior world circuit, and appreciated the opportunity it provides for young Andalusian talents. Raúl Rivet, president of the Club Deportivo Costa del Sol Tenis, recalled that the competition serves as a platform for making the leap to elite tennis and mentioned players who have passed through Estepona, such as Martín Landaluce, a finalist in 2020 and current number one in the junior world ranking, or Silvia Soler, winner in 2003 who reached number 177 in the world.

The tournament is supported by the Estepona City Council and sponsored by the Málaga Provincial Council. Interested parties can visit the website www.twniscostadelsol.es, email teniscostadelsol98@gmail.com, or call 622 07 93 70.
