Seville has been the scene of the operation “Munib Calamitas”, in which the Civil Guard and National Police dismantled two criminal organisations dedicated to the sexual exploitation of women in vulnerable situations. The operation resulted in the arrest of 15 individuals and the liberation of 15 victims, all of Colombian and Venezuelan nationality.
The investigations revealed that the victims were primarily recruited in South America, where their precarious economic and social conditions were exploited by these organisations. Once transported to Spain, they were subjected to strict control, living in overcrowded and unsanitary conditions in properties that functioned as brothels.
Living conditions of the victims
The liberated women not only faced deplorable conditions, but were also forced to be available 24 hours a day. They were coerced into repaying a debt of 7,000 euros to the organisation, which was used as a control mechanism to prevent them from escaping the situation of exploitation.
The investigation also showed that the organisations operated in an organised manner, posting advertisements for the victims on digital platforms under false identities. They used sexually explicit photographs to increase the demand for their services.
Police interventions and account closures
The security forces carried out searches in several municipalities of Seville, including Utrera, Gelves, and Seville. During these actions, significant evidence was obtained, such as mobile devices and documents related to the criminal activity, as well as 10,000 euros in cash.
Additionally, 15 bank accounts associated with the organisations were blocked, including properties that were allegedly used for money laundering and to conceal the profits obtained from this illegal activity.
It is estimated that the assets related to these accounts exceed 30,000 euros. The operation was carried out by the Civil Guard's Human Trafficking Unit and the National Police's Central Unit for Immigration Networks and Document Fraud.
