The Equality delegate, Cristina Durán, has detailed the actions of the Municipal Women's Information Centre, funded by municipal budget and State Pact funds against Gender Violence.
The City Council of Ronda has strengthened this year the work of the Municipal Women's Information Centre (CMIM), which has two sources of funding: the municipal allocation and the funds from the State Pact against Gender Violence. This was explained by the municipal Equality delegate, Cristina Durán, who emphasised the council's commitment to supporting victims.
The State Pact funds are allocated annually based on criteria such as belonging to the VioGén system, the implementation of the ATENPRO system, and the municipality's population. Thanks to these funds, the CMIM develops a stable programme throughout the year, with a particular focus on the young population and educational centres.
Among the initiatives launched are campaigns to prevent sexual assaults, Violet Points at leisure events, the Equality Sentinels programme in schools, short story workshops, the 'Towards Equality' scavenger hunt, awareness-raising actions on digital violence, the educational monologue 'That's Not Love', by Marina Marroquí, women's empowerment programmes, and workshops on digital tools.
Durán highlighted that these actions have also been taken to the neighbourhoods and districts of the municipality, aiming to reach all corners of Ronda. The councillor has called on women suffering from gender violence or sexual assaults to visit the CMIM, located in Carlos Cano Square, or contact the Security Forces.
She also reminded of the existence of the helpline 900 200 999, a free and confidential resource available for victims. During the Pedro Romero Fair and Festivals, the Violet Points will again be present, distributing informative and preventive material among attendees.
The municipal official has insisted on the need to involve the entire society to eradicate gender violence. The City Council of Ronda maintains its commitment to putting all human and material resources at the service of women in need, ensuring continuous support and assistance.
The CMIM thus consolidates itself as a fundamental pillar in the fight against male violence in the Serranía de Ronda region, offering a close and specialised service to victims.
