The Pedro Romero Fair will once again feature the 46th Carriage Exhibition Contest, returning to the bullring after two years suspended due to renovations. It will take place on Sunday, September 6.

The 46th Carriage Exhibition Contest of Ronda will return to the city's bullring with an audience on Sunday, September 6, after two years of suspension due to the rehabilitation of the venue. The official presentation was held this Tuesday in the Hall of Degrees of the Royal Cavalry Maestranza of Ronda (RMR), at an event attended by the mayor, Mari Paz Fernández, the vice president of the Royal Club of Carriages of Andalusia (RCEA), José Juan Morales, and the deputy brother mayor of the RMR, Rafael Atienza.

The event, which is part of the Pedro Romero Fair and Festivals (from September 1 to 6), will gather around thirty carriages that will parade through the bullring and its surroundings, along the streets Virgen de la Paz and Jerez. The organization is managed by the RCEA, the RMR, and the Ronda City Council, with the support of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development of the Junta de Andalucía and entities such as the Azvi Group Foundation, the Caja Rural del Sur Foundation, the Fernando III CEU University, Nimo Gordillo, and Lexus Sevilla.

The mayor highlighted during the presentation that this is “one of the most beautiful celebrations we have at the Fair” and thanked the RCEA for their commitment to the city, as well as the RMR and the carriage drivers for their efforts. Fernández invited locals and visitors to enjoy this tradition, while Atienza described it as “the most selective contest in the world” and Morales emphasized that “this tradition has managed to reach our days.”

Tickets will go on sale on Monday, August 24 on the Giglon platform (www.giglon.com) and at the box office of the bullring starting August 31 until the day of the event. The single price will be 5 euros, both in the sun and shade, and part of the proceeds will be donated to the Red Cross in Ronda.

The box office of the bullring will open on Monday, August 31, Tuesday, September 1, and Wednesday, September 2 from 12:00 to 14:00 and from 18:00 to 20:00; on Thursday, September 3, from 12:00 to 14:00; on Friday, September 4, from 12:00 to 14:00 and from 17:00 to 19:00; on Saturday, September 5, from 11:00 to 13:00; and on Sunday, September 6, from 9:00 to 12:00.

The poster for this edition reproduces a hand-coloured illustration titled ‘Vue de Malte. Strada Real’, from the work ‘Voyage d’Horace Vernet en Orient’, written by Eugène Goupil-Fesquet and published in Paris in 1834. The image is part of the collections of the RMR Library.

The return of the carriages to the bullring marks the revival of one of the most anticipated moments of the Pedro Romero Fair, after the last two years saw the suspension of bullfighting events, the Goyescas, the Novillada, and the Rejones due to the rehabilitation works of the venue.
