Ronda's tourism board presents its 2026 Bridge of Tourism Awards to Bodega Doña Felisa Viña Amaya, Hotel Montelirio, La Taberna, and the Benaoján Sausage Fair. The event, held at the Convent of Santo Domingo, acknowledges their contribution to the city's tourism sector.
The Ronda City Council, through its municipal company Turismo de Ronda, S. A., presented the 2026 Bridge of Tourism Awards on Tuesday night at the Convent of Santo Domingo. The awards are part of the celebration of World Tourism Day, which this year included free activities last Saturday, including adventure sports proposals.
The honorees this edition were Bodega Doña Felisa Viña Amaya, Hotel Montelirio, the bar La Taberna, and the Benaoján Sausage Fair, the latter in the regional category. The awards were collected by Julia Losantos, CEO of the winery; José Luis Ríos, owner and director of the hotel; Juan Carlos Pérez, owner of La Taberna, and Guillermo Becerra, mayor of Benaoján, from the hands of Ronda's mayor, Mari Paz Fernández.
“Tourism is a matter for everyone in Ronda. The data we have, which continues to rise and improve, would not be possible without the professionals in the sector, without each of you,” said Fernández, highlighting the family nature of many businesses in the segment.
The councillor for Tourism and head of Turismo de Ronda, S. A., Ángel Martínez, defended the management of the municipal company. “Turismo de Ronda is strengthening in 2026 with a more solid economic base, an expanded offer, and a personnel structure, adjusting to the new level of activity,” he explained.
Sector data indicates that so far in 2026, the number of visitors to Ronda exceeds 1.3 million, after surpassing two million in 2025. For this year, an increase in overnight stays is expected, which was 17% the previous year.
Regarding the Path of the Tajo Gorge, whose route has recently been completed, only the first phase and until August has received nearly 123,000 visitors. The forecast is that the figure will grow by 20% with the addition of the second and final phase.
The event brought together a large audience and a wide representation of the tourism sector, and was enlivened by the Hula Hula's Group.
Bodega Doña Felisa Viña Amaya has just opened its new facilities in the vicinity of the archaeological site of Acinipo, following an investment of over ten million euros with support from the Junta de Andalucía. The winery, driven by the Losantos family, will expand its production capacity and improve its positioning in the wine tourism offer. It was founded in 1999, when José María Losantos and Gema Alonso arrived in Ronda and set up their first winery, Chinchilla, with five hectares of vineyard. In 2018, with the incorporation of their daughters, Julia and Sara Losantos, they expanded the business with the current facilities and 22 hectares of vineyards.
The Hotel Montelirio, a four-star establishment, occupies an old 17th-century manor house in the historic complex of Ronda, acquired by four families. Among the owners is Mariano Atienza, Count of Montelirio, after whom the establishment is named, opened in 2003 and featuring the Albacar Restaurant among its facilities. The generational handover has already taken place with the children of those families.
La Taberna is located in the Plaza del Socorro, in the centre of Ronda, and combines tradition and innovation in its culinary proposal. It opened 15 years ago, driven by Juan Carlos Pérez, who has nearly 40 years of experience working in hospitality in that same square.
The Benaoján Sausage Fair, organised by the local council, is declared a Provincial Tourist Interest Festival by the Málaga Provincial Council and is held on the last weekend of November. It was founded in 2003, during the mayoralty of Juan Manuel Hidalgo, and has grown from a thousand visitors to over 5,000. It revolves around the traditional sausage-making of over a century in the municipality and has incorporated other products such as olive oils and Benaoján molletes.
