The Territorial Delegation of Education in Málaga has approved the update of the Self-Protection Plan of CEIP Nuestra Señora del Rosario in Benaoján, with seven technical reports supporting the continuity of classes while accessibility works are ongoing.
The Territorial Delegation of Education in Málaga announced this Tuesday the final approval of the update of the Self-Protection Plan of CEIP Nuestra Señora del Rosario in Benaoján, after its Occupational Risk Prevention Unit inspected the spaces and supervised the new evacuation plans, as reported by Diario Sur.
The document, prepared by the school management in coordination with the Technical Office of the aforementioned unit, covers both the main building and the adjacent municipal facilities, where children from Early Childhood Education and the first cycle of Primary Education are temporarily attending classes.
The update of the emergency protocols is part of the accessibility improvement works being carried out by the Andalusian Public Education Agency (APAE), with an investment exceeding 200,000 euros.
To support the compatibility of these works with educational activities, the Territorial Delegation cites a total of seven reports, opinions, and technical certificates issued throughout September by various competent bodies and professionals.
Among them are two favourable statements from the Provincial Consortium of Firefighters of Málaga: one regarding fire safety conditions and evacuation of the four provisional classrooms set up in the municipal premises, and another that endorses the formal resumption of teaching activities in the school building.
This documentation is supplemented by a certificate issued by an architect that verifies the supervision of the underpinning works of the ground floor and expressly guarantees the structural stability of the areas being used. There are also various reports from the APAE regarding the suitability of the municipal spaces and from the Technical Direction concerning the minimum necessary conditions to reconcile the start of the school year with the pending works.
The latest of these documents, dated September 22 and prepared by the APAE, concludes that there are "the necessary safety conditions to allow the start and continuity of educational use of the centre in the designated areas, in a way compatible with the ongoing works".
Despite these favourable statements, the accessibility works are still ongoing. The Ministry of Education itself acknowledges that there have been delays caused by the subcontracted company of the contractor, which is why it has demanded an immediate increase in the pace of the works.
Additionally, it has called for a strict delineation of safe and independent routes to keep the construction areas separate from the spaces used by the educational community.
Meanwhile, attendance in the classrooms has reached nearly 60% of the enrolled students this Tuesday, according to data provided by the Territorial Delegation.
The regional administration assures that it understands the concerns expressed by some families and reiterates its message of "maximum calm" regarding the situation of the school.
Education also commits to continue providing clarifications and the technical documentation that the educational community may require, with the aim of ensuring the development of school activities while completing works that are still pending completion.
