The Junta of Andalucía, through the Public Agency of Ports of Andalucía (APPA), has tendered a surveillance contract worth 3.7 million euros covering 21 ports in the provinces of Huelva, Cádiz, Málaga, and Almería. This contract will last for one year, with an option for a one-year extension.
Objectives of the surveillance contract
The main objective of this contract is to ensure the safety of the facilities and users. It is expected to improve the operating conditions of around 5,000 moorings used for fishing, recreational, and commercial activities.
According to the Minister of Development and Mobility, Mario Muñoz-Atanet, this action is essential to ensure the protection of both people and port infrastructures. It aligns with the strategic lines of the Andalusian port system established by the government of Juanma Moreno.
Ports included in the tender
The ports that will be under surveillance include:
Villaricos (La Balsa and La Esperanza), Garrucha, Carboneras, Roquetas de Mar, and Adra in Almería; Caleta de Vélez, Fuengirola, Marbella (La Bajadilla), Estepona, and La Atunara in Málaga; Barbate, Conil, Rota, Chipiona, Bonanza, and Puerto América in Cádiz; Punta Umbría, Mazagón, El Terrón (Lepe), Isla Cristina, and Ayamonte in Huelva.The company awarded the contract will be responsible for protecting the facilities and individuals, conducting access controls, and preventing criminal acts and administrative violations.
It will also oversee the unloading of fish from vessels, ensuring that the product is directed to the corresponding fish market and that the necessary documentation is in order.
Guards at certain facilities, such as Garrucha and Isla Cristina, will be equipped with electric bicycles to facilitate their mobility, also contributing to environmental protection through non-polluting transport.
Companies interested in participating in this tender can submit their bids until October 23 through the electronic contracting platform of the Junta of Andalucía (Sirec).
