The province recorded 6,252 unfilled job offers in August, 36% of the total in Andalucía and ahead of Seville. The figure decreased by 16.8% compared to July.
The province of Málaga accumulated 6,252 job vacancies during the past month of August, which accounts for one in three unfilled jobs across Andalucía, according to the latest report from InfoJobs published by Diario Sur. The autonomous community recorded 17,698 pending job offers, of which more than a third correspond to the Málaga market.
The volume of vacancies in Málaga exceeds that of Seville (4,669), despite the fact that the Seville province has a larger population. Following are Cádiz (1,869), Granada (1,248), Almería (1,192), Córdoba (1,066), Huelva (837), and Jaén (565).
The Málaga figure represents a decrease of 16.84% compared to July, when there were over 7,500 vacancies, and it is also 3.71% lower than in August 2025, when it was close to 6,500. In Andalucía, the monthly decline is 22.6% and 10% year-on-year, a trend that is repeated across Spain, with 162,915 vacant positions compared to nearly 211,000 in July.
According to InfoJobs, this reduction is attributed to the usual summer slowdown in the job market, although there are sectors that defy this trend. In Málaga, purchasing, logistics, and warehousing leads the demand with 1,389 vacancies, 2.43% more than in July and 50% more than a year ago. The most sought-after profiles are warehouse workers, delivery drivers, forklift operators, and heavy truck drivers.
The second area with the most offers is professions, arts, and trades, with nearly 900 vacancies, although it has decreased by 16% monthly and 8.73% year-on-year. Here, cleaning staff, private drivers, security guards, mechanics, electricians, and plumbers stand out.
Tourism and hospitality occupy third place, with 896 vacant positions, a figure lower than in July (945) but in line with last year (889). The most requested positions are waiter, cook, housekeeper, kitchen assistant, and hotel receptionist.
Among the growing sectors, the construction-real estate sector stands out, with 463 professionals needed, 35.4% more than in July and more than double compared to a year ago. Demand is also rising in education and training, with 185 vacancies, 16.35% more than in July and 14.20% more than in August 2025, due to the upcoming school year. The sought-after profiles are primary school teachers, language school teachers, and childcare workers.
In healthcare, there are 329 vacancies, 72% more than a year ago, while finance and banking have doubled their monthly demand (25 compared to 12).
Broken down by profession, the most in demand in Málaga are warehouse worker (518), delivery vehicle driver (437), shop assistant (322), packer (274), cleaning staff (260), and tied with 247, manufacturing labourer and waiter. They are followed by sales representatives (198) and real estate agents (172).
