In Andalusia, avocado production grew by nearly 45% in volume and 35.5% in value during the 2025-2026 campaign compared to the previous campaign. Approximately 91,300 tonnes of avocados have been harvested, with a value exceeding 202 million euros, according to data from the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development.
The growth in production has been supported by greater availability of water resources, thanks to rains that contrast with the drought that had affected the region in previous years. This improved water situation has allowed avocado crops to face their production cycle normally, thus recovering their yield.
Andalusia, leader in avocado production in Spain
Andalusia consolidates itself as a national benchmark in avocado production, representing 64% of the total production in Spain. At the provincial level, Málaga stands out, concentrating 52% of Andalusian production with 47,400 tonnes. It is followed by the provinces of Granada with 24,400 tonnes, Cádiz with 13,300 tonnes, and Huelva with 5,760 tonnes.
In terms of area, there are currently around 13,900 hectares in production, which represents an increase of nearly 5% compared to the 2024-2025 campaign. The cultivated area for this campaign amounts to 15,800 hectares.
International avocado exports
Avocado exports have also shown notable growth, reaching 107,300 tonnes in the last campaign, an increase of 18.3% compared to the previous campaign. These exports are valued at 396.6 million euros, a rise of 35.5%.
France remains the main destination for Andalusian avocado sales, accounting for 45% of exports with approximately 48,350 tonnes. However, the Netherlands and Germany are also important markets, with over 27,800 and 15,650 tonnes exported, respectively.
