A gas explosion that occurred this Sunday at a chicken grill in Cártama Station has left two injured and caused significant material damage to two adjacent businesses. The incident, according to Diario Sur, took place around 9:30 a.m. in a premises located on Andalucía Avenue.
The injured are the owner of the grill and an employee who was with him at the time of the explosion. The owner suffers more severe injuries as he was directly hit by the blast, while the employee has injuries and burns that are initially less serious.
The timing of the incident prevented greater consequences. Early in the morning, activity in this area of Cártama Station was still low, and there were not many people in the vicinity of the establishment.
The force of the explosion did not remain within the grill. The shockwave damaged the walls separating it from the businesses on either side and affected Bar Gregorio and a mattress store. A fire also broke out in the latter establishment after the flames reached its interior.
The damage necessitated a large emergency response on Andalucía Avenue. Three fire crews, along with local police and civil protection units, were dispatched to the scene to provide initial assistance and ensure the safety of the affected establishments.
Once the fire was controlled and the two injured individuals were attended to, efforts focused on inspecting the condition of the businesses and assessing the extent of the damage. The proximity of the establishments meant that the impact directly affected both adjacent businesses.
The Judicial Police also arrived at the scene and has begun investigations to clarify the circumstances of the incident. Although initial reports suggest a gas-related explosion, the investigation will now determine the exact origin of the blast and how it occurred.
Officers remained in the area throughout the morning conducting the necessary checks while emergency services completed their operations. The condition of the grill owner is of particular concern after he was directly hit by the explosion.
