The Metropolitan Transport Consortium of the Málaga Area has launched its special summer service campaign, which includes new intercity bus connections to beaches and shopping centres. The M-140 and M-136 lines will be operational from June 22.
From June 22 to September 8, residents of Cártama and Alhaurín de la Torre will have direct buses to the beach of Torremolinos and the Plaza Mayor shopping centre. The Metropolitan Transport Consortium of the Málaga Area (CTMAM) has initiated its Special Summer Services Campaign, with two lines designed to facilitate access to coastal and commercial leisure areas without the need to use a car.
The M-140 line, which connects Cártama with Alhaurín de la Torre and the beach of Torremolinos, will operate from Monday to Saturday with departures from Cártama Estación at 11:00 and 15:10, and returns from Torremolinos at 16:30 and 20:00. On Sundays and public holidays, the schedule will be: departures from Cártama at 9:50 and 11:50, and from Torremolinos at 16:30 and 19:00. This line was trialled last summer and recorded a 15% increase in users compared to the previous year, according to sources from the Consortium.
Meanwhile, the M-136 line connects Cártama with Alhaurín de la Torre, Plaza Mayor and Los Álamos, but operates under a demand-responsive transport system. Interested parties can request the service by calling 911 010 100 or through the Mufmi app. This system allows routes to be adjusted according to user needs, offering greater flexibility.
The aim of these special services is to reduce the use of private vehicles for trips to the coast and large shopping areas, avoiding traffic jams and parking issues. CTMAM reminds that public transport is an efficient and sustainable alternative for enjoying the summer. For more information, citizens can consult the Consorcio Málaga app (available on Google Play, App Store and Uptodown), the website www.ctmam.es or call the public service number 955 038 665.
