Vélez-Málaga Hosts the Quarter-Finals of the Andalusian Handball Cup

The Paco Aguilar Pavilion will host the Trops Málaga-Cantera Sur match tomorrow, leading up to the women's final on August 30.

The Paco Aguilar Pavilion will host the Trops Málaga-Cantera Sur match tomorrow. The game, at 12:30, precedes the women's final on August 30.

The Municipal Covered Pavilion Francisco J. Aguilar “Paco Aguilar” in Vélez-Málaga will be tomorrow, August 22, the venue for one of the quarter-final matches of the Men's Andalusian Handball Cup. The match, which will kick off at 12:30 PM, will see Club Balonmano Trops Málaga face Club Balonmano Cantera Sur.

The Andalusian Handball Federation has once again trusted the capital of Axarquía to host a regional event. The match will also serve as a precursor to the Women's Andalusian Cup final, which will take place on August 30 at the same venue.

The Sports Councillor, Manuel Gutiérrez, has highlighted that the pavilion arrives at the event “completely renovated,” following a project that involved an investment of €179,750. The works included a complete renewal of the flooring with high-performance wood, improvements in lighting, seating, painting, and waterproofing.

“Thanks to these improvements, the pavilion is in top condition for these major events,” the councillor stated.

Gutiérrez thanked the Andalusian Federation for their commitment to Vélez-Málaga as a venue. In a similar vein, the manager of the organisation, Raúl Romero, noted that the town “is always an option” due to its facilities, collaboration, and hospitality. “We will experience a great match this Saturday,” he assured.

The president of Trops Málaga, José Carlos Espina, expressed his pride in representing his team “once again” in a competition set in Vélez-Málaga. Espina valued that such initiatives “help promote sports and bring citizens closer to various sports disciplines,” including handball, “which may be less known than others.”

The leader emphasised that these matches help bring sports to “a very sporty land, Vélez-Málaga,” with a wide programme and participation in numerous disciplines throughout the year. Tomorrow's event will start at 12:30 PM and entry will be free until the pavilion's capacity is reached.
