The V Cycling Classic 'Rincón de la Victoria, Full of Life' will open its registration period on August 1 at 11:00 hours, as announced by the Sports Department of the Rincón de la Victoria Town Hall. The event, organised together with the Calabahía Cycling Sports Club, has established itself as one of the key dates in the provincial and Andalusian cycling calendar.
The competition will be held on November 15 and will bring together 500 participants on a 74-kilometre route, starting and finishing at Plaza Gloria Fuertes in La Cala del Moral. The route will pass through the municipalities of Moclinejo, El Borge, Cútar, Benamargosa, Comares, and Totalán, accumulating over 2,000 metres of positive elevation gain and four mountain passes: Moclinejo, Cútar, Salto del Negro (Comares), and Santopitar.
The Sports Councillor, Antonio José Martín, highlighted that “the Classic has become an essential event for cycling enthusiasts and one of the most important sporting events we organise throughout the year.” Meanwhile, the Mayor of Rincón de la Victoria, Francisco Salado, emphasised “the growth this event has experienced since its early editions, attracting hundreds of athletes, companions, and visitors each year.”
Salado also praised “the excellent work carried out by the Calabahía Cycling Sports Club and the Town Hall's commitment to organising quality sporting events that help to energise the municipality.” The club's vice president, Isidro Pérez, stated that “this event is already the one with the highest participation in the provincial circuit. Runners choose Rincón de la Victoria because they find quality organisation, a spectacular route, and all the safety guarantees to enjoy a great day of cycling.”
The registration fee will be 25 euros for licensed cyclists and 37 euros for non-licensed participants. The organisation will award trophies to the top three finishers in each category, starting from 18 years old. In the 2025 edition, the overall winners were Pedro García in the under-23 category and María Paz Sánchez in the master 50 category.
Registrations can be made through the website of the Andalusian Cycling Federation. The Town Hall recommends that interested parties formalise their registration in advance, as the number of places is limited to 500 participants. The event, which combines physical challenge and the landscapes of Axarquía, has become a tourist and sporting attraction for the region.
The route, featuring four mountain passes and a total elevation gain of over 2,000 metres, is designed for experienced cyclists. The organisers have arranged refreshment stations and technical assistance along the route, as well as a security and traffic management system to ensure the smooth running of the event. The neutralised start of 4 kilometres will allow participants to position themselves before starting the 70 kilometres of competition.
