Moclinejo distributes 2,000 litres of wine and 500 kilos of grapes on the Day of Winegrowers

Moclinejo celebrates the XXVI edition of the Day of Winegrowers on September 13 with over 2,000 litres of wine, 500 kilos of grapes, and more.

The XXVI edition of the Day of Winegrowers in Moclinejo takes place on Sunday, September 13, featuring wine and grape distribution, a popular paella, workshops, and performances. The program kicks off at 11:30 AM with the blessing of the grapes.

Moclinejo will celebrate the XXVI edition of the Day of Winegrowers on Sunday, September 13, distributing over 2,000 litres of wine and around 500 kilos of grapes among attendees. The day includes a popular paella for 1,500 people and the tasting of borrachuelos, as reported by Diario Sur.

The program will start at 11:30 AM with a mass for the blessing of the grapes, featuring the Coro Aires de la Axarquía. At 12:30 PM, Antonio Salado Muñoz will deliver the opening speech, followed by a procession with the Panda de Verdiales de Moclinejo to the wine press, where attendees can witness the work of the grape stompers to extract the muscatel juice.

Between 12:30 PM and 3:00 PM, there will be wheel dances and workshops on grape picking, sorting, laying out, and stomping. Throughout the morning, traditional stalls will offer tastings of cured meats, hornazos, raisins, wines, and grapes.

At around 3:30 PM, the popular paella will be distributed for one euro, with proceeds benefiting a local association. Afterwards, attendees can enjoy homemade borrachuelos and music from Electroduendes and Malamanera. The Mister and Lady of Winegrowers 2025 will also be chosen, and at 8:30 PM, the Cádiz chirigota 'Los Company' will perform in the Plaza de España.

The day includes exhibitions and cultural visits. From 12:30 PM to 6:00 PM, 'Windows to Art and Muscatel' will be on display at the Antonio Segovia Lobillo Exhibition Hall. At 12:30 PM, 'Art at the Vineyard' will showcase live painting on wine barrels with the Panda Chica de El Valdés. The Antonio Muñoz Cabrera Winery Museum will be open until 4:00 PM. There will also be a market featuring typical products from Axarquía and crafts.

In this edition, the Corazón Moscatel award will go to Julio Salom Herrera, Lieutenant General of the Canary Islands; the Moscatel Málaga to Restaurante Reyes; the Special Moscatel to Anne Axarquía; the Moscatel Moclinejo to Soledad Belatrán Torres and Antonio González Ruiz; and the Moscatel El Valdés to Brígida Montañez Montañez and José Antonio Lisbona Villalba.
