Fire in Cútar Extinguished After Devouring Two Hectares of Scrubland

Infoca has extinguished the forest fire declared in Cútar, affecting two hectares of scrubland. It's the second fire in Axarquía in a week.

Infoca has declared the forest fire that broke out this Tuesday in Cútar extinguished. The flames affected two hectares of scrubland and low mountain.

The forest fire declared this Tuesday in the Lomas de Cútar area, in the Axarquía locality, was extinguished shortly before eleven o'clock on Wednesday morning, according to Diario Sur. The fire, which started in the early afternoon, affected two hectares of scrubland and low mountain.

The Infoca operation mobilised up to two light helicopters, one heavy helicopter, two ground support aircraft, 23 forest firefighters, one Brica, two operations technicians, two environmental agents, and one fire engine. Once the fire was stabilised at 5:45 PM, 18 forest firefighters, two environmental agents, and two fire engines continued to work on its control until extinguishment was achieved.

The mayor of Cútar, Francisco Ruiz (PP), explained that the affected area consists of scrubland and low mountain with abandoned olive groves. It was not necessary to carry out any evacuations of rural homes.

This is the second fire this week in Axarquía, following the one recorded on Monday in Almáchar, which was extinguished on Tuesday after burning three hectares of scrubland in the Partida Ramírez. Initially, 25 forest firefighters, one technician, two environmental agents, and two fire engines participated in that operation.
