The extraordinary Plenary on September 18 will give the final green light to the General Plan for Urban Planning, which expands urban land from 40 to 53 million square meters.
The City Council of Marbella will bring the final approval of its General Plan for Urban Planning (PGOM) to an extraordinary Plenary on Friday, September 18, making it the first in Andalucía adapted to the new Law for the Promotion of Sustainability of the Territory of Andalucía (LISTA).
The mayor, Ángeles Muñoz, held a working meeting with the Minister of Housing, Youth and Land Planning of the Junta, Rocío Díaz, to discuss the status of the processing and other strategic issues of the municipality. Muñoz emphasized that the document is "absolutely essential" for the city and thanked the minister and her team for their collaboration.
"Marbella will be the first city in all of Andalucía to have the document approved under the new law, with the LISTA," the mayor pointed out.
The PGOM increases the urban land from the 40 million square meters of the 1986 planning to 53 million, which will allow for the planning of new infrastructures, increase green areas, and facilitate the generation of housing. Muñoz stressed the need to promote access to housing for young people and workers struggling to rent in Marbella, as "all of this reduces housing prices, but above all provides us with great facilities."
Among the facilities that can fit into the new city model are the Palace of Justice and improvements to the road network. The mayor highlighted that the more than 60 sectorial reports required have a favourable character.
Minister Rocío Díaz noted that the PGOM will provide "legal security" in urban matters and reminded that the General Directorate issued the last favourable report in February. Since then, eight meetings of the working group established to promote the processing have been held.
"Finally, we will have the General Plan for Urban Planning approved in September, the PGOM of Marbella, which will be the first adapted to the LISTA," Díaz stated.
The extraordinary Plenary is scheduled for 9:00 hours at the City Hall of Marbella.
