The Antequera region is preparing for the grand World Cup final between Spain and Argentina this Sunday at 21:00 hours. Twelve municipalities will install giant screens, with pre-activities and a festive atmosphere.

The Antequera region will come to a standstill this Sunday. At 21:00 hours, all eyes will turn to New York, where Spain and Argentina will compete in the World Cup final. But the echo of the match will resonate in squares and promenades across a dozen municipalities that have organised giant screens and parallel events so that no fan is left at home.

The Paseo Real in Antequera will be the epicentre of the region. There, as part of the Family Days Festival, two giant screens will broadcast the match, and twelve food trucks will be operational for attendees. The Town Hall has integrated the final into a festive programme aimed at attracting entire families.

Archidona: the Plaza Ochavada as a natural grandstand

In Archidona, the Town Hall has chosen a unique location: the emblematic Plaza Ochavada, dating back to the 18th century. A giant screen will allow viewers to follow the match from 21:00 hours, with the baroque design of the square as a backdrop. Locals will be able to enjoy the acoustics and beauty of one of the most iconic spots in the province.

Campillos, on the other hand, will bring the excitement to the Parque José María Hinojosa. An outdoor giant screen will be set up there, and local DJ Juanma Delgado will entertain the crowd from 18:00 hours. The Town Hall expects a large turnout in this wooded area.

Villanueva del Trabuco: community involvement

The mobilisation in Villanueva del Trabuco stands out for the involvement of local associations. The Plaza de la Libertad will host a giant screen with a signal provided by Trabuco Televisión, and the local Madridista Peña will manage the bar service. Attendees will be able to cool off during what is expected to be a hot night.

In Fuente de Piedra, the Town Hall has designed a true fan zone. In addition to a giant LED screen, the event will feature musical entertainment by DJ Ramoned and activities starting from 17:00 hours. The aim is to warm up before the big match.

Sierra de Yeguas and other municipalities join in

Sierra de Yeguas will set its nerve centre in the Plaza de Andalucía, where doors will open at 20:00 hours with pre-match music. The Town Hall encourages locals to come as a family wearing La Roja shirts. In Cuevas de San Marcos, the promenade will offer the final on a high-resolution screen, with merchandise distribution and, if Spain wins, celebrations with music until 1:30 hours.

Alameda, for its part, will concentrate the festivities at the Caseta Municipal, with a giant screen and opening from 20:02 hours. In Villanueva de la Concepción, locals will gather in the Gregorio Fernández “El Panza” square, at the foot of El Torcal, for a night “that could go down in history.” Humilladero, taking advantage of its fair in the Los Carvajales district, will combine a screen with performances by the Charanga and local DJ Sergio FM after the match.

In Villanueva de Tapia, the central Plaza de España will host the screening from 20:00 hours. Villanueva del Rosario will set up its screen in the Plaza del Saucedo, with DJ Vinamir “warming up” and distributing flags. Villanueva de Algaidas will place the screen in the Parque Arenal, while Valle de Abdalajís will use a high-definition projector in the historic Plaza de San Lorenzo, with bar service provided by the Parish of San Lorenzo Mártir.

The entire region is preparing for a night of football, excitement, and perhaps a new world title. Locals have the opportunity to experience the final in community, in public spaces that transform into genuine outdoor grandstands. The festive atmosphere and municipal involvement ensure that no one misses the most anticipated match of the year.
