The University of Málaga begins the 2026-2027 academic year in a staggered manner throughout September. Most faculties will start on September 9, with later dates for other centres.
The University of Málaga (UMA) has presented the gradual incorporation calendar for the start of the 2026-2027 academic year, which will extend throughout September and culminate on September 21. Most students will resume classes on Wednesday, September 9, as reported by Diario Sur.
On that official first day, faculties such as Architecture, Computer Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, Sciences, Education Sciences, Health Sciences, Economic and Business Sciences, Law, Fine Arts, Tourism, Philosophy and Letters, and Medicine will open their classrooms, except for final year students. Students from the Virgen de la Paz Nursing Centre in Ronda and first-year students from the Maria Inmaculada Teaching Centre in Antequera will also start that day.
On September 10, the remaining courses from the Teaching Centre and students from the School of Industrial Engineering will join. On September 14, it will be the turn of the faculties of Marketing and Management, Social and Labour Studies, and Psychology and Logopedia.
The process will conclude on September 21 with the start of classes in the Faculty of Communication Sciences and the incorporation of sixth-year Medicine students. UMA has explained that this system aims to optimise management on the Teatinos and El Ejido campuses and avoid overcrowding on the first days.
Before the formal start, several centres have organised orientation sessions and welcome events for new students. The university has warned that any changes to the calendar will be communicated through the websites of each centre.
