The event, organised by the National Police, will take place on October 30 with a five-kilometre route along the coast, benefiting Cruz Roja Torremolinos. Registrations are now open on the website ruta091.es.
Torremolinos will host the charity race Ruta 091 on October 30, an initiative by the National Police that takes place in several Spanish cities and will donate the proceeds to Cruz Roja Torremolinos in this locality. The presentation was attended by the mayor, Margarita del Cid, the chief commissioner of the National Police in Torremolinos-Benalmádena, Antonio de Haro, the sports councillor, Ramón Alcaide, the poster's designer, Laura Porporatto, and representatives from Cruz Roja.
The route for adults will be five kilometres along the municipality's coastline, starting and finishing at Los Álamos, next to the beach bar El Galeón. The race will start at 18:30 and will complete a circular circuit up to the Playamar area. Participants must be over 14 years old.
Before that, at 18:15, runners aged 10 to 13 will cover 400 metres. At 18:00, it will be the turn of children aged 4 to 9, with a distance of 200 metres.
Registrations can be made at www.ruta091.es and cost 13 euros for adults and 10 euros for those under 13, with a maximum of 1,000 participants. All athletes will receive a runner's bag with a commemorative t-shirt. There is also the option of a solidarity bib for those who wish to contribute any amount they choose.
“I thank the National Police for choosing us for this 091 race, which also features local talent in that magnificent painting illustrating the race,” said the mayor, Margarita del Cid.
“This 091 race is being held for the first time in Torremolinos, demonstrating the National Police's commitment because, in addition to the constitutional functions we all know, we have this involvement with society,” highlighted chief commissioner Antonio de Haro.
The poster's designer, Laura Porporatto, explained that the illustration features the Casa de los Navajas as an emblematic place in the city and several police officers, with a colourful and cheerful design. The event aims to strengthen ties between the police force and the community, as well as promote sport for a charitable purpose.
