The Torremolinos Town Hall has acquired two electric tricycles, a compact urban vehicle, and a high-performance sweeper to optimise cleaning tasks in streets, parks, and pedestrian areas.
The Torremolinos Town Hall has taken a step forward in modernising the street cleaning service with the addition of new machinery. The vehicles, which have already begun operating, combine mobility, sustainability, and functionality to tackle daily tasks in the municipality.
Among the new acquisitions are two electric tricycles, a small electric vehicle, and a high-performance sweeper. All of them have been specifically configured to work in streets, squares, parks, promenades, and pedestrian areas, where conventional vehicles face access difficulties.
The electric tricycles, with a 250-watt motor and a range of up to 60 kilometres, are designed for tasks such as emptying and replacing bins, as well as transporting waste bags and work materials. They feature suspension, hydraulic disc brakes, a tight turning radius, and a protective canopy that improves working conditions during the summer months.
The compact vehicle, with a width of just 1.22 metres and a length of 3.70 metres, stands out for its great manoeuvrability. It is designed for easy access to narrow streets, historic centres, commercial areas, and promenades. Its electric propulsion system provides a range of up to 150 kilometres, a maximum speed of 71 km/h, and a payload of 630 kg. Additionally, it comes with air conditioning and heating as standard, enhancing operator comfort throughout the year.
Behind the cabin, the vehicle has a technical cabinet for the secure storage of work materials, and at the rear, it features an open box with mesh sides. As a complement, it includes an electric blower and a pressure washing unit to remove small stains from pavements, urban furniture, or bins.
The high-performance sweeper, on the other hand, is designed for urban cleaning tasks with high suction efficiency and low operational costs. It has a hopper of 4 to 5 cubic metres made of stainless steel, large-diameter front brushes, and a panoramic cabin that offers optimal visibility.
With this investment, the Torremolinos City Council aims to optimise daily routes, reduce intervention times, and improve the quality of service provided to the public. The new vehicles will enable operators to perform their work more effectively, especially in hard-to-reach environments.
The commitment to electric mobility also helps reduce pollutant emissions and noise during cleaning operations, aligning with the municipality's sustainability objectives. The Town Hall has highlighted that this renewal represents a step towards a cleaner, quieter, and more efficient city model.
The residents of Torremolinos will notice an improvement in the frequency and quality of cleaning in streets and public spaces, especially in pedestrian and commercial areas where intervention was previously more complicated. The new machinery is already operational, and results are expected to be visible in the short term.
