The Casa Fuerte Bezmiliana in Rincón de la Victoria opens its doors this Friday to a new exhibition that reviews the history of bullfighting in the province of Málaga. Titled 'Paper and Silk. Bullfighting Memory of Málaga', the exhibition commemorates the 150th anniversary of the Plaza de Toros de La Malagueta, one of the most emblematic bullrings in Andalucía.
The collection, which will be open until 30 August, consists of original pieces from Málaga collector Joaquín Millán, as well as funds from the Diputación de Málaga and other local institutions. Through historical documents, posters, and artistic works, the exhibition offers a journey through the evolution of bullfighting posters in Málaga from the 18th to the 20th century.
The Councillor for Culture of the Rincón de la Victoria City Council, Paz Couto, has stated that the exhibition allows visitors to learn about the evolution of bullfighting tradition in Málaga, exploring different moments in its history and highlighting the role of bullrings, professionals, and enthusiasts. Couto has encouraged locals and tourists to visit the Casa Fuerte Bezmiliana to enjoy this unique exhibition.
Meanwhile, the Mayor of Rincón de la Victoria, Francisco Salado, has highlighted the interest in an exhibition that brings Málaga's bullfighting heritage closer to the public and helps preserve an important part of the province's collective memory. Salado emphasized that the exhibition coincides with the commemoration of the 150th anniversary of one of the great symbols of the capital, the Plaza de Toros de La Malagueta.
The Councillor for the Presidency Area and Director of the Bullfighting Affairs Area of the Provincial Diputación of Málaga, Borja Ortiz, expressed his satisfaction with the arrival of the exhibition to the municipality. According to Ortiz, the exhibition is structured into different thematic blocks that offer a historical, artistic, and cultural perspective, allowing for an understanding of the evolution of bullfighting and its influence on the history of Málaga.
The exhibition uses paper and silk as mediums closely linked to the dissemination, representation, and preservation of the memory of the bullfighting festival. Among the exhibited pieces are posters created by renowned artists such as Ruano Llopis, Roberto Domingo, and Ramos Rosa, which are part of the significant artistic and documentary legacy generated around bullfighting.
The Casa Fuerte Bezmiliana, located at Avenida del Mediterráneo number 149 in Rincón de la Victoria, is open from Tuesday to Saturday from 10:30 to 13:30 and from 18:00 to 21:00, while on Sundays the hours are from 11:00 to 13:30. Admission is free, and it is recommended to check for possible schedule changes on public holidays.
This initiative is part of the commemorative events for the 150th anniversary of the Plaza de Toros de La Malagueta, which includes other cultural and bullfighting activities throughout the year.
