The Mijas Town Hall and the Málaga Diputación have launched a gardening and landscape restoration course in Las Lagunas, aimed at 15 individuals from vulnerable groups, featuring 210 hours of training and a job placement service.
The Mijas Town Hall and the Málaga Diputación have strengthened their commitment to job insertion with the start of a gardening and landscape restoration course in Las Lagunas. The initiative, which began this Tuesday, benefits 15 individuals from vulnerable groups, with 210 hours of training that is particularly sought after by companies in the sector.
The mayor of Mijas, Ana Mata, and the provincial employment councillor, María del Carmen Márquez, inaugurated the course, which is part of the EnRuta Project, co-financed with European funds. Mata highlighted that the goal is to equip participants with the necessary tools to increase their motivation in job searching, enhancing their skills and capabilities.
An integrated programme for reintegration
The philosophy of the EnRuta Project is to train individuals and, where applicable, reorient those with qualifications according to the real and updated employment opportunities in the area. Additionally, it provides professional internship experiences and promotes an entrepreneurial culture among individuals facing special difficulties. Present at the course opening were the councillors for Employment Promotion, Juan Carlos Maldonado; Parks and Gardens, Daniel Gómez; and Infrastructure, Juan José Torres. They all agreed that this training involves follow-up and mediation aimed at increasing the hiring rate of participants.
The registered individuals meet the project requirements: they are unemployed and job seekers in public employment services. Priority is given to those belonging to groups further removed from the labour market, such as long-term unemployed; individuals over 45 years old – particularly women; individuals with disabilities with a degree of 33% or higher; or individuals in a socio-economic vulnerable situation with a report from Social Services.
Requirements and professional opportunities
To obtain the certificate, it will be essential to have completed the scheduled training in the itinerary, pass the evaluation tests, and have attended at least 75% of the total hours. The EnRuta project is co-financed by the European Social Fund Plus (FSE+) through the 2023 call for aid from the Employment, Education, Training and Social Economy Programme (EFESO), aimed at local entities for the insertion of individuals further removed from the labour market.
This initiative includes training actions and internships in companies from sectors such as hospitality and tourism, commerce and marketing, logistics, administration and management, agri-food, textiles, construction, and physical or sports activities. The gardening course is one of the most sought after by companies in the area, which opens a real door to employment for participants.
