The Mediterranean Park will host the fifth edition of the Marbella Championship from October 2 to 4, bringing together around 1,500 athletes from over 40 countries and leaving an economic impact exceeding 8.5 million euros.

The Mediterranean Park in Marbella will be the venue for the fifth edition of the Marbella Championship, an international crossfit competition taking place from October 2 to 4, which will gather around 1,500 athletes from more than 40 countries, as reported by Diario Sur.

The Councillor for Sports, Lisandro Vieytes, presented the event alongside the organiser, Sara Echaniz, and representatives of local athletes. One of the main new features of this edition is the support from the City Council for seven athletes from Marbella, whose registration fees will be covered. "When we are fortunate enough to have athletes from Marbella who can compete and represent our city in an event of this nature, what better way to acknowledge their effort than to facilitate their participation," said Vieytes.

The competitors sponsored by the City Council are Juan Manuel Lebrón (Master 35-40); Lara Pamela Moreno and Sabrina Medero (Female RX Couples); Sergio Liñán and Juan Espada (Male RX Couples); David Martínez Lima (RX) and Juanjo Martínez Lima (Intermediate). The championship will also include Elite, Adapted, and Scaled divisions, with individual, pairs, and team formats.

The councillor highlighted the tourism and economic impact of the event, which takes place in October. "Many participants arrive in the days leading up to the event and stay in Marbella after the competitions, which translates into overnight stays and a direct impact for the city," he explained. The organisation estimates that the economic impact will exceed 8.5 million euros.

During the three days, the Mediterranean Park will feature three competition areas, recovery areas, dining options, activities, and a commercial zone with fitness brands. The organisation has agreements with local hotels. Holders of the Marbella Athlete Card will have free access.

At the presentation, the official t-shirt for this fifth edition was also unveiled, which will be included in the participants' bags, along with specific clothing for volunteers, featuring a refreshed design. Sara Echaniz thanked the municipal support for local athletes and emphasised the international character of the championship: "We love that, alongside participants from numerous countries, there are athletes from Marbella joining the competition in different categories."

Local athlete Juan Manuel Lebrón, who has lived in the city for 16 years and has participated in all editions, expressed his gratitude for the support and advocated for crossfit as a discipline that "creates community, promotes healthy habits, and attracts more people each year." Regarding Marbella, he noted: "There is sea, sun, sand, effort, and above all, fun."
