The XIV edition of the Pink Tide against breast cancer will be held in Marbella on October 4 with the aim of exceeding 3,000 participants. The proceeds will go towards research and care for patients and their families.
On October 4, Marbella will host the XIV edition of the Pink Tide against breast cancer, a charity march organised by the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC) of Marbella, which aims to gather more than 3,000 people. The event's presentation included the participation of the Councillors for Sports, Lisandro Vieytes, and Social Rights, Isabel Cintado, who expressed the support of the City Council for this initiative, as reported by Diario Sur.
During the presentation, Vieytes highlighted that "this is one of the most established events we have in the municipality from a sporting and charitable perspective." The councillor recalled that the arrival at the Adolfo Suárez Palace of Fairs and Congresses "will allow us to conclude the day with activities aimed at runners, families, and participants." For her part, Cintado emphasised that the Pink Tide "is much more than a march" and represents "a call for everyone to get involved, especially to raise awareness about breast cancer and highlight the importance of prevention." "We want no woman going through this illness to feel alone," stated the councillor, who thanked the organisation for its commitment throughout the year.
The president of the AECC of Marbella, Santiago Gómez-Villares, detailed that the day will begin at 11:00 hours on the Avenida del Mar with a training session led by Raúl González, before the march sets off at 12:00 hours from the Promenade. The route will pass through the streets of Marbella until reaching the Adolfo Suárez Palace of Fairs and Congresses, where there will be a charity bar with food and music, the Great Charity Raffle, and children's activities.
Gómez-Villares noted that this year "there are expectations of reaching 3,000 participants, as long as the weather is favourable," after the previous edition, marked by adverse weather conditions, gathered nearly 2,000 people and raised close to 50,000 euros. The president took the opportunity to highlight the work of the association in Marbella, which last year provided 371 assists to patients and families affected by breast cancer, with over a thousand sessions, including 334 psychological support sessions and 45 physiotherapy sessions.
Registrations, which are already open, cost 12 euros and include insurance and a bib number, a new feature that will give a competitive edge to the event. Participation is also possible through the zero row. The organisation maintains the slogan 'We take it to heart' and will have the support of CaixaBank and other sponsors, such as Joyería Gómez and Molina, which will donate 50 commemorative bracelets to be raffled among attendees in front of a notary.
The director of the business area of CaixaBank in Marbella and the Costa del Sol, Genoveva Gutiérrez, described the initiative as "a benchmark of solidarity in our city." In-person registration can be done at the AECC headquarters in Marbella, at Avenida del Mar, number 5, and online sales are also available on the association's website.
