The charity race organised by the AECC of Marbella will kick off at 11:00 in Avenida del Mar with a warm-up before the march, which will start at 12:00 from the Paseo Marítimo. The goal is to reach 3,000 participants.
The XIV edition of the Marea Rosa will take place this Sunday, October 4, in Marbella with the aim of raising funds for research and support for patients and families affected by cancer. The event is organised by the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC) in the locality.
The mayor, Ángeles Muñoz, has supported the initiative alongside the Sports Councillor, Lisandro Vieytes, and has encouraged residents to participate both by registering and attending the event.
“It is a fantastic association, one of the institutions that provides the most support to people who, at a certain moment, have to fight against cancer.”
Muñoz has pointed out that having the AECC “ensures that they will have support, advice, and professionals” and has congratulated the president of the entity, Santiago Gómez Villares, and his board for the work they do in the municipality.
The mayor has encouraged reaching the goal of 3,000 participants and has reminded everyone that participating means “putting a little bit into this cause, not just by buying the t-shirt, but also by attending the walk.”
“There is not a year when you are not here to collect your t-shirt.”
Gómez Villares has thanked the support of the Town Hall and explained that the funds raised are allocated to research and the treatment of patients and families. The president has set a goal to raise the cancer survival rate to 70 percent by 2030.
The day will start at 11:00 in Avenida del Mar with a warm-up led by Raúl González. At 12:00, the march will begin from the Paseo Marítimo and the route will take participants through the streets of Marbella to the Adolfo Suárez Palace of Fairs and Congresses. There will be a solidarity bar with food and music, the Great Solidarity Raffle, and children's activities.
